Text Communication with Parents

In our effort to improve communication between parents and school, we use a texting program that will enable school personnel to notify all households and parents by phone within minutes of an emergency or unplanned event that causes early dismissal, school cancellation or late start. The service may also be used from time-to-time to communicate general announcements or reminders. This service is provided by “BFAC”, a company specializing in texting communication. In order for parents to receive a text, you must text 95577 (cell phone only) and type in the message area, newsummit (all one word). In seconds you will receive a response, at that time reply in the message area, your full name.

Accessing ParentsWeb

RenWeb’s ParentsWeb is a private and secure parents’ portal that will allow parents to view academic information specific to their children, while protecting their children’s information from others. You may view your child’s grades, attendance, homework and conduct, as well as other useful school information. You can also communicate with teachers and other school staff online whenever necessary. All you need is an Internet-capable computer.

Additional Communication Tools

Communication with parents is one way we keep you involved. It is our goal to have regular communication that is not only prompted by student problems, but also utilized to share the many student successes we observe. Please make sure you update all your parent information including address, email address, and phone numbers to the administration office. The following is a list of communication tools we have added for you to receive the most updated information:

  • New Summit School Facebook Page

  • New Summit School Instagram Page

  • New Summit School Twitter Account

  • New Summit School App

For all upcoming events and activities please check out our website www.newsummitschool.com.

Medical Consent

In order for a student to receive any type of medication (prescription or over the counter), written permission must be on file with the school office.  New Summit School has typical over the counter medications available in the office example- Ibuprofen, Pepto Bismol, Tums, Benadryl, cough drops etc….

No medication will be dispensed to a student without parental permission.  The school also asks that a list of regular medications the student is taking be provided and updates as changes are made.  It is the parent’s responsibility to provide the school with specific written instructions regarding prescription medication administration. The parent, not the student, must provide the prescription medication to the office.
